JulDean "Dean" Davis

Obituary Date: Tuesday, June 20, 2023

Mr. JulDean "Dean" Davis, age 77, a native of Lumpkin County, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Mr. Davis was born to the late Garland and Iowa Davis on October 25, 1945.

Mr. Davis grew up on his family's homestead on the Etowah River in Lumpkin County and attended the Cane Creek School. Mr. Davis worked for many years in the timber and shipping pallet industries. Mr. Davis retired to farming, where he enjoyed caring for his goats, chickens, and mule. He was proud of his garden and, almost every year, supplied multiple families with vegetables from its bounty.

Mr. Davis loved the outdoors and enjoyed trout fishing and coon hunting in his younger years. Later he became an avid hiker. He and his wife, Katie, climbed many mountains together. His favorite was Mount Le Conte in Tennessee. He enjoyed family campouts and would regale everyone around the campfire with tales of tending crops with his father, popping popcorn in the fireplace with his grandpa, and running from the revenuers with his uncle. Mr. Davis' greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons. He often took them hiking and taught them to cook hotdogs on a campfire and play in the river.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Davis.

Survivors missing him most include his wife, Katie Davis; son Jeff (Stephanie) Davis; daughter Deana (Danielle) Davis; grandsons Aidan Davis and Eli Podany; and sister Pauline Rider. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also remain. Mr. Davis will also be greatly missed by his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law; Henley Seabolt, Patsy Lingerfelt, Tina Lowman, Susie MCune (Shawn) Kendall, (Debbie) Seabolt, Gladys (Bobby) Rider and Regina Seabolt.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the chapel at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Davis Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 PM until the service hour.
