JoAnn Stribling Shadburn

Mrs. JoAnn Stribling Shadburn, 82 of Oakwood, GA passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023.

JoAnn was a long time resident of Oakwood, Ga. She was the owner of “JoAnn’s” Restaurant in Oakwood at the corner of Mundy Mill and Old Flowery Branch Road. She was known to pull up a chair with her customers and friends while they enjoyed her biscuits and dressing. She ran JoAnn’s Restaurant for many years before retiring to enjoy life with her family. 

JoAnn was born in Fulton County in 1940 to William “David” Stribling and Luna Belle Allen Stribling of Atlanta, GA. She married her loving husband Marcus Eugene Shadburn in 1955 spending 64 years together. JoAnn co-owned and operated Shadburn Concrete alongside her husband, Marcus and son, Steve Shadburn. Mrs. Shadburn was also the owner of Mundy Mill Laundry in Oakwood. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church for many years. She was a respected business woman, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to her extensive family.

Mrs. JoAnn Shadburn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Mr. Marcus Eugene Shadburn, her father Mr. William “David” Stribling, her mother Mrs. Luna Belle Allen Stribling, and her sister Mrs. Geneva Stribling Sosebee as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter and two sons Michael Shadburn and Cami Shadburn of Flowery Branch, Steve Shadburn and Joan Shadburn of Gainesville, and Stacey Shadburn-Hicks of Flowery Branch. She is survived by her 9 grandchildren and their spouses Seth and Brittany Shadburn, Ashley and Colby Runnels, Cali Shadburn, Derek Shadburn, Mark and Anna Shadburn, Dylan and Kaylee Shadburn, Alex and Barrett Puckett, Camille Phagan and Cody Englar, and Matthew Phagan and Madelyn Iodice. She is also survived by her 8 great grandchildren: Morgan Shadburn, Leyton Shadburn, Jake Englar, Mason Shadburn, Madison Shadburn, Rhys Puckett, Everett Puckett, and Braxton Phagan. Mrs. Shadburn is also survived by her sister-in-law Mrs. Grace Pirkle Shadburn of Talmo as well as several nieces and nephews. 

 Visitation will be held Saturday June 24, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday June 25, 2023 at 2:00 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Joel Shadburn, JoAnn’s nephew, will oversee services.

Mrs. Joann Shadburn, 82, of Flowery Branch, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 at Oaks at Braselton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
