Betty Mae Brooks Smith

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Betty Mae Brooks Smith, age 81, of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Wednesday June 14, 2023. Mrs. Smith was born in Jackson County, Georgia the daughter of the late Loyd M. Brooks and the late Annie Jane Lee Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse “Junior” Smith, grandchild, Jacob Jesse Bryant, two sisters, Ruth Smith, Nettie Carter and three brothers, Harrrison Brooks, Donald Brooks and Alfred Brooks.

Mrs. Smith is a retired bus monitor with Barrow County School System, a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Commerce, loved going to the Winder Barrow Speedway, watching the Atlanta Braves, listening to gospel music but most of all loved being with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Smith Bryant of Jefferson and Stacy Brooks of Jefferson. Adopted son, Tommy Brooks of Jefferson. Three grandchildren, Joshua Bryant (Tiffany) of Statham, GA, Dustin Sullivan and Destiny Sullivan both of Jefferson. Sister, Frances Skinner of Jefferson. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday June 21, 2023 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris Bryant, Reverend Bo Whisnant and Reverend Wes King officiating. Interment will follow at Evans Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening June 20, 2023 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
