Edna Lucille Rider

Mrs. Edna Lucille Rider, age 90, of Murrayville, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023. 

Mrs. Rider was born in Hall County on April 18, 1933, to the late Thurman Roy and Lilly Franklin Roach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Garland Gerald Rider, granddaughters Susan Elaine Hagler, Tracey Lynn Smallwood, Eva Michelle Swing, and sister Wilma Sue Burnett, and the father of Donald and Kathy, Garland Leonard Rider. Mrs. Rider was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to visit family and friends, and you might often find her doing her favorite sport, yard selling. Mrs. Rider was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. 

Missing her most will be her life-partner Richard Chambers, Murrayville; children Linda and Melvin Deaton, Flower Branch; Jimmy and Martha Smallwood, Oakwood; Kathy Rider Matthews (Billy), Gainesville; Donald and Jeannie Rider, Dahlonega; Joyce and Sam Chambers, Dahlonega; sister-in-law and best friend Mildred Woody, Hall County; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.    

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, June 16, 2023, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Ed Chambers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Rider’s wishes were to be cremated after the service.
