Mr. Donald Anton Acker, age 82, of Flowery Branch passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with inurnment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mr. Acker was born October 21, 1940 to the late George & Helen Acker in Ashton, Wisconsin. He was retired from the Construction business and of the Catholic Faith. After his High School Graduation at the age of 18 he was invited to try out for the Milwaukee Braves. Where he pitched a simulated two inning game facing Hall of Famers, Eddie Mathews and Hank Aaron. Striking out Hank Aaron. Unfortunately he did not make the team. He met the love of his life Carol Jean Ballweg a few months later and they went on to have four children, one son and three daughters.
Mr. Acker is survived by his wife, Carol Jean Acker; children, Todd & Karen Acker, Terry Link and Tracy & Phillip Acton; grandchildren, Courtney Murphy, Chelsea (Jeffrey)Ross, Brittney Link, Alexander Fletcher, Nicholas Fletcher, McKenzie Fletcher and Donald Acker II; great-grandchildren, Aurey Gibbs, Mahryah Disspain, Kenadie Ross, Kayden Ross, Wyatt Fletcher, Harlynn Dickinson and Onaleigh Dickinson; and siblings, Richard & Marlene Acker, Sylvester & Jean Acker and Mary Hinz. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tambra Sibson; brother, George Acker; and sister, Elizabeth Acker.
