Mrs. Delsie Lee Puckett went home to be with the Lord on June 8th, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born in Adairsville, Ga. As a child, her mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. C.P. East, were involved in organizing a children’s home in middle Georgia that went on to become the Meansville Campus of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. After high school, Mrs. Puckett spent some time in Texas studying music before returning home to begin a career as a secretary in downtown Atlanta at Maxwell & Hitchcock Inc.
In 1975, she married Henry Allen Puckett of Buford, Georgia and moved to Gwinnett County, where she spent the rest of her life. After retiring from Maxwell & Hitchcock, she continued to work as a musician for Crowell Brothers Funeral Home and volunteered at the local senior center. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing music, and spending summers in the mountains.
Mrs. Puckett served on the board of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, Meansville Campus, and supported the ministry through annual homecoming and fundraising events. She loved her family, friends, and her Lord.
Services will be held at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel and Gardens Thursday, June 15th at 3:00. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. C.P. East and Mrs. Eula Avis Knight East; her husband, Henry Allen Puckett; and stepdaughters Henrietta Pruitt (Joel) and Barbara Stinchcomb (Ralph).
She is survived by stepsons Anthony T. Puckett (Susan) and Henry Brian Puckett (Beverly) and step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.
