Evelyn Carrie Alberta Jackson

Ms. Evelyn Carrie Alberta Jackson was born on March 4th, 1929, to the late Jim and Cora Irene Goudlock Jackson in Dahlonega Georgia. She departed this life on June 7th, 2023, at the age of 94.

As a child Ms. Jackson attended the Hickory Grove Church School in Dahlonega Ga.; she was a lifelong member of the church as well as a member of the senior choir and served as a stewardess.

After moving to Gainesville, she continued her education at Fair Street School, graduating with the class of 1967.

Ms. Evelyn had several jobs including private homes and factories in the Gainesville area. Her longest employment term ended in retirement from the Gainesville City School System where she worked in the lunchroom for over 20 years.

She was a proud member of the Hall County Senior Life Center where she was the unofficial supervisor" as well as the longest attending member to this date. While attending the senior center she at one time worked in the kitchen. She participated in the Telephone Reassurance Program, The Red Hat Society, Divas and The Girls Only Club.

Evelyn was famously known for her homemade cakes which she loved to bake for her family, church, friends, and the senior center. When she wasn't baking cakes, you were sure to find her spending time solving word searches, talking on the phone, knitting, and even reciting poetry.

Evelyn enjoyed her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grands. She would spend hours on the phone with cousins and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, brother Robert Lee Jackson, daughter Georgia Jackson, son Byron Jackson and sister-in-law Asa Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memories; sister Carrie Elizabeth Jackson Cantrell, son James Fitzgerald Jackson, wonderful and caring daughter in law Laquita Jackson; 8 grandchildren, Jasuan Jackson, Keon Jackson, Alicia Jackson (Lele), Shameka Johnson, Khalil Jones, Malik Jackson, Jamesha Jackson, and Tania Jackson. 2 honorary granddaughters, Adrienne Moran, and Mallory Dyer. 7 great-grandchildren, Jasuan Jr., Camden, Anilah Raye, Major, Ashton, Ezekiel and Copelan. One cousin Michael Jackson. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
 
The visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13th  between the hours of 12-8pm, family will receive friends between the hours of 6-8pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. Ms. Jackson's Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, June 14th at Hickory Grove CME Church at the hour of 2pm. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
