Robert Rathbun, age 69, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on June 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, June 11, 2023 at North Hall Church (Mt. Vernon Road)
He is survived by his loyal and loving wife Sue, son’s Bobby & Michael and daughter Lisa. Bob was also the proud “Pop-Pop” of 4 beautiful grandchildren.
The son of Robert Paul Rathbun Senior and Marilyn Jean Radick, Bob grew up in Akron, Ohio where he met his wife Sue as a youth group leader at their local church Evangel Temple. Bob attended Akron University and achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing & Finance in 1977 and went on to take continuing education classes at both Wharton School of Business and Harvard Business School.
Bob’s humble beginnings in the work-force began at Sun Electric, General Tire, Cabot Engineered Carbon Blacks, and later starting his own company; Pinnacle Elastomeric Technology, which is still flourishing today and being led by his oldest son, Bobby.
Bob was often described by his family and friends as fun loving, kind, giving, gentle, goofy, and best of all- steadfast in his love for the Lord. Bob was most at peace when he was on the lake fishing, boating, and skiing. Bob also enjoyed motorsports, which encompassed cars, motorcycles, and amateur racing.
Bob’s love of Christ was often shown through his acts of love and service to those around him. He had a soft spot in his heart for women and children in need which led to his appointment to the Board at New-Beginning’s Ministry and rehabilitation in Toccoa, Georgia. Bob also financially sponsored two children in Peru and Bangladesh throughout the years via a program that provided children the basic necessities of life. Bob’s philanthropy to his community was most often anonymously given. Bob will be missed on Earth, but is now wearing many crowns in heaven.
