Carole Bernat

Carole Bernat, 76, passed away peacefully on May 30^th in Georgia.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Bernat, together for 35 years; parents, Helen Nichols Corbin and Warren Nichols from Jersey City, New Jersey.  Carole leaves behind cherished family and friends including her children; Kristi Burns, Peter Kurlonak, Patty (Rich) Connolly; along with six grandchildren (Luke, Rhys, Chloe, Lilly, Breanna, Matt); great-grandchildren, Ava, and sister, Joan Rutkowski.  She worked to live not lived to work, being retired for over twenty years, cruising most everywhere with her Donald and family, as well as countless fun-filled vacations with friends.  Loved ones will always remember her beautiful smile, how much she adored her grandchildren, desire to travel, her wisdom and strength, ability to tell a good story, passion for reading, the Jersey Girls, and watching the sunrise on the beach.  In celebration of her memorable and well-lived life, we kindly invite everyone to attend the Celebration of Life Service to be held in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Dr. Bill Coates officiating.  Casual dress requested.  Everyone is invited to the Reception in the Magnolia Room at Flanigan Funeral Home following the Service. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  Flowers can be sent to 4400 S. Lee Street, Buford, GA or donations in lieu of made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
