Roberta Fortenberry

Roberta Fortenberry, 83, of Suches, GA passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born September 2, 1939 in Moline, Illinois to the late Henry and Gladys DeKeyzer, she lived in Suches for 44 years.  Mrs. Fortenberry retired as secretary for the Woody Gap School System following several years of service.  She enjoyed Bible study, reading, animals, and was very devoted to her family.  A member of the Blairsville Christian Center, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Leroy Fortenberry; son, Michael Alan White; brother, David DeKeyzer; and 2 grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Cynthia Marino and George Siques, III, Decatur, TN, Roy and Linda White, Moline, IL, Robert White, Clermont, GA, Randall and Cindy Fortenberry, Dahlonega, GA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sisters and brothers in law, Eileen and Steve Nash, Texas, Ruth and Phil Ryman, Colorado; brothers and sisters in law, James and Sharon DeKeyzer, Ohio, Pat and Lynn DeKeyzer, New York; and a number of other relatives.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 2, 2023 from 2 pm until 4 pm at Bearden Funeral Home.
