Ellen LaVerne Osborne

Ellen LaVerne Osborne, 92, of Dawsonville and long time resident of Gwinnett County passed away at her residence on Monday, May 29, 2023 following a period of declining health.

Born January 24, 1931, Ellen was a graduate of Clarkston High School where she lettered in basketball. She was a member of Amicalola Baptist Church in Dawsonville. In past years she sang in the choir at Mountain Park Baptist Church as well as teaching Sunday school and the Girls Auxiliary. She was an avid member and supporter of the American Cancer Society, writing columns for the local newspaper in Lavonia, Georgia as well as speaking at conferences. Momma, as she was affectionately called, was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Bud Osborne; brother, Wes Maddox; sons, Dennis Osborne, Wesley Osborne; son-in-law, Wayne Burnette; and grandson, Carey Woron.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Rachel Osborne; daughter, Lisa Osborne Burnette; brother, Byron Maddox; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Joey Stewart and Rev. Danny Bennett will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.

Ellen will be interred at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Georgia beside her beloved husband on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 2 p.m.
