Dr. G. Berk Lynch II

Obituary Date: Friday, May 26, 2023

Dr. G. Berk Lynch II, 80, of St. Simons Island, GA passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023 with his wife, Lynda, by his side. Born in Morgantown, WV, he was the son of the late G. Berk Lynch and Evelyn Blosser Lynch.

Berk earned his Master’s degree in Psychology at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. He then moved with his family to Arizona earning his PhD in Psychology from Arizona State University in 1974. Berk also continued his education in post-graduate studies at both Emory and Harvard. While in Arizona, Berk managed his own practice until taking an opportunity to work with Crawford and Company in Georgia in 1979. Berk retired as the VP of International Healthcare Services and enjoyed retirement ever since.
Berk had many interests and hobbies outside of work. He enjoyed amateur radio (KG4APO), travel, music (guitar and harmonica), camping, SCUBA (PADI Instructor), boating (Coxswain-US Coast Guard Auxiliary and Offshore Navigator-US Power Squadron), volunteering (Chattahoochee Food Bank and Meals on Wheels), gardening, animals of all kinds, ballroom dancing, his Christian faith and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Gainesville, Ga.
Berk is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lynda Honts Lynch of St. Simons Island, GA; son Gordon Bradley “Brad” (Sarah) Lynch of Satellite Beach, FL; daughter Jennifer Lynch (Jeff) Shull of Gainesville, GA; special family friend Jeff (Jaynelle) Talaber of Buford, GA; sisters Pamela “Pam” Via and Constance “Connie” (Jim) Johnson; grandchildren Jordan (Brian) Light, Mitch Shull, Heather Shull; great grandson Sullivan Light and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1st, from 9 a.m. till 10 a.m. followed by a brief service at Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Coates officiating, and then a graveside prayer at Alta Vista Cemetery.
