Claudius “Roy” Aston Finlayson, age 75, of Snellville, GA passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He is preceded in death by parents, Zedekiah Finlayson and Camelia Reid; brother, Cleveland Finlayson; children, Patrick Finlayson and Nicholas Finlayson. Mr. Finlayson is survived by children, Joan Palacios of New York, Marvelyn Finlayson of Lithonia, GA, Shauna Braide of Snellville, GA, Dennise Finlayson of Lithonia, GA, Asley Finlayson and Nicolette Finlayson of Jamaica; eighteen grandchildren, four brothers, and two sisters. Roy was born July 26, 1947 in Salter’s Hill, Montego Bay, Jamaica. In Jamaica, he worked as a shoemaker and was also known as “Shoey”. He migrated to America in 2002 where he worked for New York State Park and Recreation. He enjoyed cooking and listening to music. He was a loving father and supportive grandfather who will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral, Buford, GA, with Evangelist Eunice Holder officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA.
