Justin Andrew Cofield, age 28, of Duluth formerly of Gainesville went in the arms of Jesus Tuesday May 23, 2023 following a tragic accident.
Justin was born September 6, 1994 to Phillip & Brenda Sims Cofield. He was an avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors. He graduated from East Hall High School in 2013, went on to become a police officer for Gwinnett County Police Department. There he worked patrol, as a narcotic investigator, robbery investigator & CRT. He received so many medals for his outstanding work. He graduated from St Leo University with his bachelor or arts degree in criminal justice. After working law enforcement of many years he decided to follow his pepaws footsteps and became owner & operator of American Roofing which he loved. He worked in the two most dangerous fields being a police officer & climbing high roofs and passed away doing what he loved which was fishing.
He was always the life of the party, making everyone laugh. You never met him without him hugging your neck. He was a father, son, brother, uncle, friend and many more things to many people. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cliff & Marjorie Cofield, George Sims & Nana Dola Thomas.
Left to cherish amazing memories, son, Brodie Andrew Cofield; parents, Phillip & Brenda Cofield, brothers, Josh (Megan) Cofield & Kory Cofield; sisters, Kayla Cofield & Kasey Cofield; Nanny Joann Sims; a number of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins & other relatives also survive.
Services to celebrate Justin will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday May 28, 2023 at the Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Darryl Womack, Rev. Preston Graham & Investigator Eddie Restrepo will officiate. He will be laid to rest by his Grandfather & grandmother Cofield at Foundation Church Cemetery (formerly known as Center Grove Baptist) in Jackson County. The family will receive friends from 2- 4 pm & 6-8 pm Saturday May 27, 2023 at the funeral home.
