Fred Ernest Thomas III, 76, of Dawsonville, GA passed away May 17, 2023 at his home following an extended illness.
Born February 24, 1947, Fred was a Georgia native and a UGA graduate. He spent many years of his life traveling during his tenure at Coca-Cola, and lived for 10 years in Dallas, TX until he returned to Georgia to pursue his passion of catering. Fred was the owner of Atlanta Custom Services & Catering where he helped make special days delicious. Fred enjoyed an active lifestyle, playing basketball and golf. He loved to be on the water and enjoyed white water rafting, boating, water skiing, and fishing. One of his favorite hobbies was coin collecting, which he often presented as gifts to his family and friends. Fred was a faithful man of God who was part of the start-up of Lanier United Methodist Church. During his time as an active member of the church, he led and played on the church basketball team. He taught Sunday School for the two and three year olds, and always loved teaching the children about the Lord. Fred truly lived his life to the fullest, and he will be deeply missed.
Fred is survived by his wife, Deborah Thomas; children, Tanner and Richard Anderson of Dawsonville, GA, Reed and Heather Thomas of Gainesville, GA, Mark and Tiffany Jordan of Dallas, GA, Greg and Jennifer Jordan of Norcross, GA, Kate and Nick Houston of Kennesaw, GA; eight grandchildren; three brothers; many cousins and extended family.
Fred is proceeded in death by his late wife Libby Tanner Thomas; parents, Fred and Lucy Thomas; grandson, Payton Lindsey; granddaughter Mia Jordan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1 p.m. at CrossBridge Community Church in Dawsonville. Pastor John Mason will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until the hour of service.
