Donald Farris Jackson, age 88, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Mr. Jackson was born December 18, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John Robert Jackson and Rosalie (Farris) Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye R. Jackson, and his sister, Nell Green.
Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnamese wars as a pilot. He retired from government civil service as an Air Traffic Control Supervisor in the Federal Aviation Administration and from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. For 10 years, he flew charter aircraft in the European, South American, Caribbean, Atlantic and Pacific regions and served as airline captain and director of operations for Independent Air. A self-taught mechanic and builder, he spent his retirement years developing property and building homes on properties he and his wife owned in Florida and Georgia.
Survivors include, sons, John Russell Jackson, Old Town, Florida; Randal Keith Jackson, Santa Barbara, California; and grandchildren, John Justin Jackson, Amy Jackson, and Zane St. Andre Jackson.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
