Billy Baird Cash

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Billy Baird Cash, age 86 of  Hoschton, Georgia.  Mr. Cash, a life-long resident of Jackson County, passed away on Tuesday,  May 16, 2023.

Mr. Cash was born August 10, 1936 in Hoschton.  He was preceded in death by his parents  Broadus William Cash and Clydell Baird Cash and two stillborn siblings. 

Mr. Cash  graduated from  Braselton High School  in 1954 as a member of the first 12 year program  in Jackson County. He joked with family and friends that  he needed an extra year to get smart before he could graduate.    After graduation , he had a short career in factory work before joining with his father on the family farm. The farm operated a large  cattle, hay  and poultry business for decades in Hoschton.

 Mr. Cash loved old and sporty cars  and owned many over the years.  He was an avid Atlanta Cracker and later Atlanta Braves fan.    Mr. Cash spend many hours listening to his police scanner and ham radio.   He had a great memory of the old Hoschton Town and could remember the family tree for generations .  Always a homebody, he enjoyed the simple pleasure of just being with his family and friends and sharing good times. 

 Mr. Cash was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church.

 He is survived by several  cousins and their extended families  plus  his former caretaker of eighteen years, Rose Karanja. 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday May 19, 2023 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cory Sexton officiating.  Interment will follow at Walnut Fork Church Cemetery, Hoschton, GA.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at Evans Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Walnut Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 557 Hwy 60, Hoschton, Georgia 30548.
