Thomas Larry Martin

Thomas Larry Martin, age 82, of Cumming, GA, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on May 14, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, “Pa”, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Martin, son Brian (Sally) Martin, daughter Holly (Michael) Bottoms, grandchildren Tyler (Lindsey) Martin, McKinsey Bottoms, Hunter (Alliana) Martin, Jay Bottoms, great-grandchildren Carter & Tucker Martin; brother and sister in-law, Bobby and Marla Gazaway. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Larry was born and raised in Forsyth and Hall counties. He graduated from Chestatee High School in 1959.

Larry retired from Mills Fuel Service in Cumming, GA. He performed many duties for the company, but his main job was as their truck driver. For many years, he transported propane from the pipeline in Griffin, GA back to North GA. Larry loved “trucking”. He would sit and tell you trucker stories and relive old memories at every chance given. He was a friend to all he ever knew.

Larry was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church of Cumming GA. He also served as a trustee at Lumpkin Campground in Dawsonville, GA and has attended Camp Meeting annually since his youth. He will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Cordie Martin, his older sister Jeane Martin Mills, his brother-in-law William Mills, and sister-in-law Joan Abbott Westmoreland.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Sawnee View Gardens with Rev. Ruel Martin and Rev. Russell Burt officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, May 15, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, May 16, 2023 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040. 77-887-2388.
