Theresa Dyches Bonnet

Obituary Date: Sunday, May 14, 2023

Mrs. Theresa Dyches Bonnét, age 69, beloved wife, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend to many, went to be with her Papa, Lord and Savior, on Sunday, May 14, 2023.  Theresa fought a short and hard battle with brain cancer the only way she knew how, privately, more concerned about those she was leaving behind.

A Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  Father Eric Hill will officiate.  The family will receive friends 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the church.

Theresa was born on October 13, 1953, in Fort Myers, Florida to Robert and Helen Dyches.  She was the youngest of seven children growing up in Naples, Florida.  She graduated from Naples High School in 1971.  While in Naples, Theresa pursued a retail career having a vested interest and managing The Book Store in Old Naples.  She moved to Atlanta in 1981 advancing her career in the wholesale women’s apparel industry.  In 1987, Theresa went to work for Byer California, a women’s/girl’s clothing manufacturer, as a regional account executive.

Having been along-time parishioner of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Theresa joined the staff as an administrative assistant in the Liturgy and Music Department.  She was the Funeral Mass Coordinator from 2004 to 2020.  It has been said by many that she had a special gift when assisting family members during their time of grief.  It was her kind and compassionate spirit that church family and friends admired.

Theresa met the love of her life, Leon Bonnét, in 1988 at an apparel trade show.  They married in 1995, having and private ceremony, in Bermuda.  They have resided in Gwinnett County living in Lawrenceville, Suwanee and Buford, Georgia calling this area their home.  During their time together, they adored their four-legged children, Alex and Sarah.  Their last canine child was the apple of their eye, Nellie.

Theresa is predeceased by her parent, Robert and Helen and her siblings; Carol, Barbara, Martha, and Robert James.  She is survived by her husband, Leon Bonnét; sisters, Mary Lowry and Margaret Morris; and many nieces and nephews – first, second, and third generations.
