Christa Elizabeth Roebuck, 78, of Oakwood, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2023, after a brief illness, to be embraced in the arms of Jesus. Christa was born on December 23, 1944, in Friedberg, Germany. She met her husband, Harold, while he was stationed in Germany, and the rest is history. After moving to America, she not only learned to drive and make biscuits, but also captured the hearts of everyone she met. Proud of her German heritage, Christa became a US Citizen in 2007 and cherished her American identity.
Christa dedicated her professional life to H. Roebuck, Inc., serving as its CEO from 2004 to 2019. She worked passionately for 40 years, exhibiting tireless commitment to producing flawlessly finished cabinets. Additionally, she actively contributed to Zion Hill Baptist Church (Buford) as a member, serving in the nursery and on the offering team.
For those fortunate enough to know Christa, leaving her presence without laughter was impossible. She was renowned for her goulash, endearing mix-ups of English phrases, and her strong aversion to grits and white gravy. Christa held a deep love for Elvis Presley and his music, which brought her immense joy throughout her life. She also found joy in traveling, bowling, and gardening. However, above all else, her greatest source of happiness came from spending quality time with her family.
Christa was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Katie Baumann, as well as her beloved husband, Harold Roebuck. She is survived by her three daughters: Kerstin Crawford (Jerry), Kathy Ledford (Randy), and Stefanie Gibbs (Damon). Additionally, she leaves behind six grandchildren: Anna Cole (Jason), Alan (Victoria) Crawford, Josh Ledford (Jen), Haleigh Ledford (Joey), Kylie Gibbs, and Deuce Gibbs, along with five great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Oma. Surviving her as well are her brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Veronika Baumann of Altenstadt, Germany; Kenneth and Diane Roebuck of Oakwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Christa was also blessed with an amazing group of German friends who gathered monthly for food and fellowship.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, from 4pm to 8pm at Hamilton Mill Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of Christa's life on Friday, May 12th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering donations in Christa's honor to Zion Hill Baptist Church's Cemetery Fund, Love Light/Hospice of NGHS, or a charity of your choice.
