Wyley Turpin, age 85, of Gillsville entered heaven Tuesday evening May 9, 2023 at the Bell Home with his family by his side.
Wyley was born December 8, 1937 in Gillsville, Georgia to the late Ernest & Ruby Buffington Turpin. He served his country in the United States Army having served in Germany. Once he returned he started his professional career, retiring from General Motors with 30 years of service. Wyley loved the outdoors, hunting, & fishing. His two other passions were family and antique car restoration. Wyley was a true family man showing us all what a committed marriage was, as he was married to his bride for almost 62 years. He was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his grandson, Randy Reece & a infant sister, Sarah Turpin.
Left to cherish amazing memories, wife of 61 years, Brenda Turpin; daughter, Cynthia (Dwayne) Reece; son, Mark (Monique) Turpin; grandchildren, Dustin (Lauren) Turpin, Brittany Turpin, Sandy (Adam) Crenshaw; great grandchildren, Wyley & Ruby Turpin, Shelby, Balin & Archer Crenshaw. A host of family & friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday May 12, 2023 at the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating. He will be laid to rest at Diamond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday May 11, 2023 at the funeral home.
