Stan E. Brotherton

Stan E. Brotherton, age 62 of Clarkesville, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023.

Born on November 6, 1960 in Marietta, he was a son of the late Claude Leon Brotherton, Jr. and Joyce Jones Brotherton. Mr. Brotherton was a United States Navy Veteran. Prior to becoming disabled in later years, he worked numerous jobs over the years. Early on he was employed at Clarkesville Mill, Mt. Vernon Mills, and Scovill, was also co-owner of J & D Refuge Sanitation, and more recently worked at Lumite.  Stan is described by his family as a loving, selfless and generous individual, who was the best brother-in-law ever. He thoroughly enjoyed his dogs, riding his motorcycle, being outdoors, camping and hiking. He found serenity and comfort in nature.

Survivors include the love of his life for 36 years, Mary Brotherton of Clarkesville; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray Brotherton of Clarkesville, and Leon Brotherton (Traci) of Clayton; sister, Pam Speed of Habersham County; devoted sister-in-law, “Mustang Sally” Maxine Galloway of Cornelia; several nieces and nephews, numerous extended relatives, in-laws and friends.

In accordance with Mr. Brotherton’s wishes no formal services will be held.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Habersham Humane Society PO Box 1442, Clarkesville, GA 30523, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate or ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
