Bobby Lee Dukes was born on October 4, 1945, in Athens, Ga to the late Mr. Harold Dukes Sr & Mrs. Alberta Dukes.
He attended Fair Street school. Bobby later served in the US Army serving in The Vietnam War. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church where he served on the Usher board until his health began to fail.
Bobby was a cook at Riverside Military Academy and Downtown Restaurant. Bobby later retired from Lanier Park Hospital. He loved his family, and family gathering. Bobby was the life of the party, he was given nicknames such as James Brown, Dancing Machine, and Mr. Fish. He enjoyed dancing and cooking.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Harold Dukes Sr & Mrs. Alberta Dukes. Siblings Jennie L. Shirley, Larry Dukes, Harry Dukes, and Harold Dukes Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Betty A. Dukes. Three sisters that he loved so dearly Lillie Dukes, Gussie Dukes, and Marie Kirk. Special sister-in-law Sandra (Ronald) Neal, Claudine McCluskey, and special brother-in-law Bobby (Linda) Harrison. Sister-in-laws Edith (Doug) Williams, Barbara (Stevie) Harrison, Vickie Harrison, Shirley Harrison, Lisa Harrison, Brother-in-laws Paul Harrison, Lamar Harrison, and James Shirley. Special Nieces and nephews Neet Harrison, Shawana Harrison, Derrick Neal, Keyontray “Mike Vick” Harrison, Kenny Dukes, Ricky Dukes, and Antwan Hailey. Special cousin Vallie Thompson. Adopted mother Mary L. Williams and adopted daughter Ariel Collins. Two special kids, Amari Wilson & Elyse McDonald that Mr. Bobby would give cookies to every Sunday. Special neighbor Harold (Ann) Sentell Lifetime friend Odell Brown, and Claude Hemphill. The Visitation for Mr. Dukes will be held Friday, May 12th between the hours of 12-8pm. The family will receive friends between the hours of 6-8pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. Mr. Dukes' Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 13th at the hour of 1pm at New Salem Baptist Church. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
