Gwendolyn Barrett Williams, age 88 of Alto, Georgia took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 04, 2023.
Born in Alto, Georgia on February 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Travis & Veatrice Smith Barrett. Gwen was a graduate of South Habersham High School, Class of 1953. She worked for Carwood Manufacturing before retirement with over 25 years of dedicated service. In her spare time, Gwen enjoyed working in her flower gardens, keeping up with the latest happenings on her phone, and playing “BUNCO” with her friends. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a doting Nanny. Gwen was a faithful member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Edwin Presley Williams, Jr. and by her brothers, Tommy Lee Barrett, Bobby Joe Barrett, & Billy James Barrett.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Williams Welborn of Alto, GA; granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Monica & Dusty Holtzclaw; great-granddaughter, Lennox Presley Holtzclaw all of Cumming, GA; sisters-in-law, Rosie Barrett of Clarkesville, GA; Dorothy Williams Morris of Alto, GA; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Larry & Betty Williams of Alto, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 07, 2023 at the Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville with Rev. Dusty Holtzclaw & Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest with Rev. Daniel Parker officiating at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Sunday.
