Thoimas Alan Drew

Obituary Date: Saturday, April 29, 2023

Mr. Thomas Alan Drew is the son Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Divona Drew and Mr. Thomas Kasunic. Thomas was born in Kansas, Oregon. He entered a career in the United States Army and served in active duty during his career in South Korea, Germany, Fort Hood Texas, Colorado, and Washington D.C. Thomas was in the conflict Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired from the Army as an E-6 Staff Sergeant.

In 2002, Thomas met the love of his life Carmen Hughey in Iceland, and they later married in 2015. To this union, they created a beautiful blended family with sons Thomas (TJ) Drew, Jr., Darius Drew, Devin Drew, Taylor Annakie, Kemia Johnson, and Raelyn Brown.

Thomas was a lover of all kinds of music and was known by many in his DJ days as DJ “Pink Panther.” He loved creating his personalized playlist for any occasion and enjoyed creating special playlists for Carmen. Thomas loved nature, and especially loved to watch birds of which he knew of every kind. His favorite bird to watch was the hummingbird. Thomas was an avid comic book collector and restorer and travelled to many comic books conferences. He was an excellent cook and grill/smoke master who prepared culinary delights such as his famous macaroni and cheese, smoked wings, brisket, burnt ends, collard greens, salmon, and jambalaya with his epic culinary touch and flavor. Thomas was also a very competitive game player and would take down the best in a game of spades or pool.  All of these traits, talents, and hobbies will be cherished and missed by all who were blessed to know him.

On Saturday, April 29th the Lord called Thomas home to Heaven to eternally dwell in his presence. His earthly assignment of Husband, Father, Bonus- Dad, Grandad, Brother, Son, Uncle, Father-in-law, and Pop-Pop was accomplished with intentionality and love.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, May 5, 2023 at Memorial Park South Chapel with Pastor Zora Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Friday, May 5, 2023 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Thomas is preceded in death by his biological parents Mrs. Divona Drew and Mr. Thomas Kasunic. He leaves to carry on his memory his beloved wife Mrs. Carmen Drew(Pendergrass, Ga.); sons Mr. Thomas (TJ) Drew (Portland, Oregon), Mr. Darrius Drew (Valdosta, Georgia), Mr. Devin (Fiancé’ Maddie) Drew (Dallas, Texas); Mrs. Taylor (Branden) Annakie, Ms. Kemia Johnson, Miss Raelyn Brown; Grandchildren Everett Drew, Grace Drew, and Eliza Drew (Expected to Arrive in July 2023); Siblings Mr. Robert (Diane) Drew (New Zealand), and Mrs. Kelly (Will) Herndon-Oden (Portland, Oregon); Step-Father Mr. Gerald Drew, Mother-in-Law Mrs. Brenda Hughey, Brother-in-law Mr. Chad (Kaunili) Hughey; Special sister and brother Pastor Zora and Bobby Hunt, Grand-dog Henry, and a host of family and friends.
