William (Bill) Phillips, Jr.

Mr. William (Bill) Phillips, Jr was born December 28, 1937, to the late Mr. William Phillips, Sr. and Ms. Lotta M. Richardson in Marion Alabama. Mr. Phillips attended school in the Calhoun County School System in Anniston Alabama. He retired from the Dekalb County Sanitation Department on September 1, 1993 after12 years of service.

Mr. Phillips enjoyed his daily walks to the mailbox and on the sidewalks of his community. His greatest passion was Golf. He often played on golf courses throughout the Atlanta area until his health became an issue. Afterwards, you could always find him sitting in front of the TV listening to Golf matches.During the last few weeks of his life his health began to decline due to health complications.

Preceding him in death: His wife of 45 years Annie “Lois” Phillips, father, William Phillip, Sr; mother, Lotta M. Richardson; and one son, Douglas Jerome Garrett.

Mr. Phillips leaves to cherish his memories: four sisters, Ollie Mae Williams, Margaret Louise Tannehill, Lizzie Mae Williams and Patricia Johnson. One daughter by marriage and her children and grandchildren, Deloris Hunter (Lee Dawson); granddaughters, Nyshae Milam and Kessie Lightsey; great grandchildren, William (25) Joshua (24) Tyson (22) Quatesha (16) Tyreas (5) Aaliyah (11) Xander (4) Darus (3 weeks) great-great grandchildren, Ezra, Mason, Are-anna; Two nieces and caregivers, Gwendis Almond, Phyllis Swift (Todd Swift) and a host of relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 7th at the Willie Watkins Chapel between the 3-5pm. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
