Ernest Timothy Usher

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Ernest Timothy Usher who was born on June 22nd 1959 to the late David L. Hunter and Ora D. Rowe.

He passed away peacefully on April 29th 2023, at the age of 63 after an extended illness .

Ernest was proceeded in death by his grandparents: Valley Rae and John Hunter, Sadie Lue and Johnny Wilson. Stepfather Cornelius Usher. Brother Wesley Dewayne Usher.

He attended Jefferson City School and worked many years for Porter Truss until he was disabled. Most recently he worked for Citgo Service Station in Jefferson and he joined New Salem Baptist Church at an early age. Mr. Usher enjoyed visiting other Churches in the community with friends. Ernest loved working at the Citgo station where he entertained the customers with his laughter and jokes. He is known as the lawn mower man by the people in Jefferson. He is often seen going to work and visiting neighbors and friends using his beloved lawn mower as his transportation. He and his buddies had a weekly cook out on Thursday's alternating houses. He loved when it was his turn to grill under the tree.

He leaves to cherish his memories to daughter, Teela (Kevin) Blackwell, Gainesville, GA; son, Terris (Danielle Marie) Usher, Gainesville GA; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; mother, Ora Rowe of Jefferson, GA; sisters, Linda (Johnny) Rakestraw, Gloria Hunter, David (Crystal) Hunter, Kelia Smith, Melissa Hunter, all of Jefferson GA. Adrian Usher and Trina Lipscomb of Gainesville GA; uncles: Rev. Fred Wilson, James Wilson of Jefferson GA, Donald (Betty) Wilson of Winterville GA, aunt's, Mary Lois Williams, Eloise (Isaac) Simpson, Lavern Mack all of Jefferson. A very special friend Janice Tuggle and  host of nieces, nephew's, cousins and many friends. 

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens. The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Evans Funeral Home, prior to the service. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Darian Rakestraw, Brandon Rakestraw, Magarret Simpson, Morris Gresham, Tony Hunter, Mason Usher, Theron Brown and Ike Daniel. Serving as flower girtls will be Lavern Mack, Veronica Gresham, Wanda Daniel,Ellen Hunter, Vickie Harris, Dorethea Moon and Beverly Victrum.

A special thank you to Erica and staff at Citgo. You all loved, respected and treated him like family. Ernest loved and thought of you as his family. Also, a special thank you to Trademark transportation service in Commerce, GA.You were his transportation to all his medical appointments for many years. You were his friends. We the family appreciate your visits the the hospital to hold hid hand during his illiness.
