Martha Yearwood Wilson

Mrs. Martha Yearwood Wilson, 82, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Born on May 22, 1940 in Atlanta, she had lived in the Gainesville area since July 1972. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Jackson Yearwood and the late Lucile Adams Yearwood. Mrs. Wilson was the Secretary to the assistant superintendent of City of Atlanta School System from 1958 until 1959. She began working for the State of Georgia Department of Agriculture in 1967 and remained there until 2011. During that time she was the assistant personnel officer and an administrative assistant. She won many awards for years of service with the Department of Agriculture and superior service awards from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Exchangette Club of Gainesville and the Newcomers Club of Gainesville.

Church was very important to the Wilson family. She and her husband were both active members at Flat Creek Baptist Church, in the Joy Sunday school class and both sang in the Golden Chorale Senior Choir.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wilburn Wilson and brother, Carl Jackson Yearwood.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son and wife, Philip and Kimberly Wilson of Friendswood, TX; daughter and husband, Sandy and Eddie Mimbs of Flowery Branch; brother and wife, Jack  and Stephanie Yearwood of Goodyear, AZ; grandchildren, Zach (Hannah) Wilson of Houston, TX; Trevor (Abby) Wilson of Friendswood, TX; Brittney (Tyler) Rish of Hoschton, GA; Kristina (John) Kishimoto of Evans, GA; great grandchildren Hudson, Asher and Caroline Kishomoto, Aspen and Baby Girl (August arrival) Rish, Wesley Wilson, and special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
