It is with great sadness that we announce Mr. Dwight Davis, age 70, passed peacefully from cancer at his home in Winder, GA. Dwight was born April 9, 1953 in Buford to Weyman (Dick) and Onnie Mae Davis. He is preceded in death by his father, Dick, and a special son-in-law Justin Lunt.
Dwight is survived by his loving mother, his devoted wife, Nancy of twenty-nine years, a brother, Dairell W. Davis of Canton, a sister Wanda Davis Mathias of Talking Rock, daughters, Kimberly Davis of Ohio, Cheril Lunt of Winder, Pam Johnson/Jon in Jacksonville, FL, Kym Dye/Duston of Colbert and son, Jason Gibbs/Grace of Tampa, FL.
Dwight, AKA/papa, leaves behind 13 very sad grandchildren that he was so proud of and enjoyed spending time with…Madison, Harrah, Natalie, Alayna, Edith Mae, Cody, William, Dixie, Kaci, Thomas, Zachary, Samuel and Benjamin, two sweet fur-babies, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dwight enjoyed strumming his guitar and singing. He also enjoyed seeing the latest James Bond movie with his oldest daughter, Kim. Let’s not forget the GA Bulldogs.
He was a 1971 graduate of North Gwinnett High School and worked at GM in Doraville, becoming one of their top instructors. As GM closed their doors, Dwight worked at Heraeus for a number of years before taking a position with the Security for the CDC where he worked as a Captain until his death.
Dwight might say here, “Go Dawgs”.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Wynn officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 25, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
