Edna Tisdale Prather

Mrs. Edna Tisdale Prather age 97 of Toccoa passed away Saturday April 15, 2023 at her residence.

A daughter of the late James Murphy and Edith Hudson Tisdale, she was born July 30, 1925 in Timmonsville, South Carolina having lived in Charleston, South Carolina for thirty one years before moving to Toccoa. She was a retired Budget Analyst with Charleston Navy Shipyard. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and Toccoa First Baptist Church. She was member of many other organizations including AARP, NARFE, Shiloh Fire Department, Stephens County Historical Society and Farm Bureau Board. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Prather in 1995, son-in-law Mel Rauton and granddaughters Cindy Rauton and Hannah Prather. 

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law Terri and Keith Byrd of Villa Rica, Dawn and Mickey Thomas of Toccoa, Phyllis Rauton of Charleston, South Carolina, two sons and daughter-in-law Jody and Diana Prather of Toccoa and Devereaux Prather of Charleston, South Carolina, Grandchildren Mel Rauton, Melinda and Kurt Biller, Jay and Amy Rauton, Brittany Prather, Cooper Byrd, J.J. Thomas and Demi Thomas, Great-Grandchildren Abby and Kyle Brigman, Ansley and Justin Mitchell, Jack Rauton, Melissa and Chris Strickland, Grace Rauton, Alex Biller and Great- Great grandchildren  Paisley Claire Hope, Carter Ann Brigman and Noah Thomas Strickland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 18, 2023 at 2 P.M at Toccoa First Baptist Church with the Reverend Brett Sanders and the Reverend David Ritcey officiating. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 6 P.M. til 8 P.M. and on Tuesday from noon until 1:30.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers Frankie Deitz, Hank Hayes, Ray Deitz, Brett Deitz, Luke Deitz, Drew Deitz, Tucker Payne and Leon Rider.

Interment will follow in the Prather Family Cemetery
