Peggy Mauldin Veal

Peggy Mauldin Veal, age 80, of Gainesville, GA (formerly of Buford, GA) passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Ray Veal; parents, Elmer and Carolyn B. Mauldin; sister, Sandra Mauldin Hairr; and brother, Carroll Mauldin. Mrs. Veal is survived by children, Charles Ray “Chuck” Veal, Jr of Gainesville, GA, and Leah and Calvin Sanders of Pendergrass, GA; grandchildren, Elaina Veal, Chrissy Veal, Anna Veal, Caleb Sanders; sister, Elaine Mauldin Evans of Avondale Estates; brother, Kaylear (Nancy) Mauldin of Clermont, GA; sisters-in-law, Pat McGuire Veal of Buford, Betty (Emory) Nesmith of Atlanta, Martha (Jim) Ray of Clearwater, FL; Jane Veal Boggs of Buford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Veal was born on July 16, 1942 in Buford, GA. She was a 1960 graduate of North Gwinnett High School and a graduate of Brenau College with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education. She retired from Buford City Schools after teaching thirty-four years at Buford Middle School. Mrs. Veal was a member of  New Bethany Baptist Church in Buford.  She enjoyed shopping, playing Bingo, and watching the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks play, and she enjoyed living on Lake Lanier. 
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Lord and Rev. Ron Cansler officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15 from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Peggy Veal.
