Mrs. Grace Holtzclaw Greenway, age 93, of Dahlonega, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023.
Mrs. Greenway was a native and long resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on October 8, 1929, to the late Gardie and Annie Davis Holtzclaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, J.D. Greenway, great-granddaughter, Vivian Rose Greenway and five of her siblings.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Greenway’s love and care reached her family in many ways. From home-cooked meals, homemade clothes, and her clean house, you were made to feel welcomed as a family. It didn’t matter if she held the beloved title “Mom” or “Granny” to you or if you were a friend to her children. If you sat around her table, you felt her love.
Mrs. Greenway’s love and support for her beloved J.D. as co-owner of Greenway Grocery was a cherished time for many. Mr. and Mrs. Greenway were generous and deeply loved their community. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughter Delores Daughtery; son Keith Greenway, all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Casey Daughtery, and Wesley C. and Katie Greenway; great-grandchildren Kyle Daughtery, Alexis Daughtery, Amelia Greenway, and Tate Greenway; brother and sister-in-law Terrell and Nell Holtzclaw; and several nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
