Robert Lee Blan, age 90, of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Thompson Blan; parents, Wright and Rubye Blan; sister, Frances Blan Grizzle; brother, James “Bull” Blan; nephew, Frosty Grizzle; sister-in-law, Sheila Blan; niece, Brandy Blan. He is survived by daughters, Robin Leigh Blan, Buford, GA, Vinci Blan Edwards, Buford, GA; grandchildren, Freeman Blan Edwards, Buford, GA, Lea Park Edwards, Buford, GA; brother, Johnny (Brenda) Blan, Buford, GA; nieces, Cindy Grizzle (Vince) Daniel, Jenny Blan (Tony) Poole, Jodi Blan (Larry) Morgan; nephews, Wright Blan, John Robert Blan; sister-in-law, Wanda Brogdon Blan, Buford, GA; several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.
Mr. Blan was born December 16, 1932 in Jasper, GA. He was a 1950 graduate of Buford High School. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army having joined in 1950. Mr. Blan retired from Eastman Kodak after 32 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Northside Garden in Sugar Hill, GA and rebuilt tractors and cars and he was a craftsman. He was a member of Sherwoods Coffee Club and a member of the North Gwinnett Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, deer hunting and socializing with his hunting friends. He filmed the Buford Football games for over 30 years. He was an avid fan of going to his grandchildren’s ballgames and sports events. Mr. Blan was a member of First Baptist Church of Buford.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA with Rev. Adam Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Sunday prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to The New Buford Chapter of Boys & Girls Club of Lanier in memory of Robert Blan.
