Mary Lucile Wall Ivester

Mary Lucile Wall Ivester, age 94 of Turnerville, Georgia took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 17, 2023.

Born in Newry, South Carolina on September 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Sanford & Ella May Hamby Wall. Lucile was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and sewing. She was the oldest living legacy member of the Turnerville Church of God where she was an active part of the Ladies Ministry and various church events for many years. Most of all, Lucile was devoted to her family and enjoyed precious time with each of them. She was affectionately known as “Grandmama” to her grandchildren and as “Baba” to her great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Ivester, Jr.; daughter, Joann Yvonne Ivester; daughter-in-law, Della Ann Broome Ivester; great-grandson, Ryan Ivester; as well as an infant brother.

Survivors include her son & companion, Jim A. Ivester & Ann Gosnell of Clarkesville, GA; daughters & sons-in-law, Janie & Tim Nichols; Judy & Howard Johnson all of Turnerville, GA; special granddaughter & husband, Amanda & Sean Brock of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Tina & Kevin Ulrich of Woodstock, GA; Charles Ivester of Turnerville, GA; Kim Ivester Dumas & Eddie Dumas of Commerce, GA; Al Ivester of Toccoa, GA; Charity & Brian Williams of Buford, GA; Chancey & David Gersmehl of Cumming, GA; Brandy & Todd Westbrook of Alto, GA; Ben & Kristel Johnson of Flowery Branch, GA; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Turnerville Church of God with Rev. Robert Lawson & Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Donald Grizzle officiating at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023.
