Mrs. Ann Ward Echols, age 77, entered her Heavenly home on March 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She is now with her late husband, Rev. Doug Echols. She was born July 22, 1945 in Banks County to the late LB and Maebell Morris Ward. Mrs. Echols was a devoted Pastor’s wife for 21 years at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved her congregation and ministered faithfully by her husband’s side. After the passing of her husband, Mrs. Echols found her love for serving lunches to the kids and staff in the Commerce City School System for 22 years. Her love for people and telling them about Jesus, changed many lives and her legacy will continue on. She was a faithful member of Grove Level Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir for many years.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband of 26 years, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Lewis and Lawrence Ward.
Mrs. Echols is survived by her daughters, Lisa Carey (David), Angie Franks (Keith), and Stephanie McLeod (Anthony). She has 7 grandchildren, Hannah (Logan), Patrick, Courtney (Trey), Ashlyn, Maggie Beth, Gracie and Sage. She also has 3 great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Kieran, and Oakley. She is survived by 7 sisters, Jimmy Lou Brown, Peggy Boisclair, Shirley James (Dennis), Brenda Allison (Jimmy), Frances Skelton (Buck), Judy Baird, and Vickie English. She had numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Grove Level Baptist Church, Maysville, GA, 6:00-8:00pm. Celebration of Life will be Friday, March 17, 2023 at Grove Level at 2:00pm, with Pastors Jeff Appling, John Wood and Brent Lord. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm, until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Jot-Em-Down, with Pastor Doug Duncan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Care Foundation or Grove Level Baptist Church, in her name.
