Jovado Lee Askin was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and coach. She suddenly left this world on March 6, 2023 at age 66.
Jovado Wanetta Lee was born on December 17, 1956 to Ernestine Lee and Albert Dixon in Atlanta, GA. After graduating high school, she spent time enjoying family and being an integral part in the community. She was well-known for her contribution in the Parks and Recreation department of the City of Atlanta.
Jovado loved food, family & friends. If you had the opportunity to meet her, you know what we mean. You instantly became family. Regardless of the event, if Jovado was hosting it, then it meant come one come all & it didn’t matter if you were empty handed. You were still treated with the upmost respect. She saw no wrong in her grandkids and even though she couldn’t get their names right, they still knew who she was talking about. She showed tough love to her kids & when she said it she meant it. Red Lobster remained undefeated as her favorite restaurant. In 2022, we still couldn’t figure out why she still loved it. Neither could we understand why Georgia Tech was her favorite college football team.
Jovado was an active member at Hunter Hill First Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the Usher’s Ministry.
Jovado is survived by her husband, Robert ; 5 children, Otis, Jowanna, Jacolby, Jacorey & Traquita; 3 sisters, Benjenia, April, Mona; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren & a host of cousins, nieces & nephews.
Jovado is preceded in death by her parents, Ernestine Lee and Albert Dixon, 2 brothers (Otis & Alfonzo)
