James M. "Jimmy" Rowell, Jr.

James M. “Jimmy” Rowell, Jr., 78, of Norcross, GA, died Friday, March 10, 2023. The family will receive friends Friday, March 17, 2023 from 1 PM – 3 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions be made to the American Stroke Association, in memory of Jimmy.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, James Rowell, Sr.; mother, Mary Rowell; step father, Henry Rowell; sisters, Nancy Bennett, Lynda Cook, Kathi Wade. He is survived by his wife, Ida Rowell; daughter, Missy Wilson and husband Pat; grandsons, Jacob Bennett and wife Jessica, Jeremy Bennett and wife Nichole; granddaughter, Maddox Wilson; great grandchildren, Walker Bennett, Sutton Bennett, Westlynn Bennett, Brynlee Bennett, Brooks Bennett.

Jimmy was born November 8, 1944 in Chamblee, GA and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was the previous owner of Amoco Gas Station in Chamblee and Rowell Service Center in Chamblee. He then worked and retired from the Dekalb County Sherriff’s Department. Jimmy, also known as Pop Pop, loved spending time on his hunting property in Madison County as well as fishing whenever the opportunity came. He liked to travel to Las Vegas and he was a collector. He had a servant’s heart and always put others before himself. He wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of and always had treats on hand. There was no one like him and he will truly be missed.
