William Brooke Fox,III

William Brooke Fox, III, 80 of Gainesville died Sunday March 5, 2023.

Born in Winter Haven, Florida, Mr. Fox had lived in Gainesville for a number of years.  He was the son of the late William B. Fox, Jr., and Mildred Anna Rich Fox.  Mr. Fox was retired from the Armed Forces of the United States after serving with the United States Coast Guard for 23 years active-duty military service. Upon his retirement his rank was CWO3 (BOSN). Upon retirement from a full military career in the United States Armed Services, in 1995 he achieved a Ph.D. degree in Theory of Complex Organizations from New York University Graduate School of Business. Subsequently served on the teaching faculty of New York University for several years before taking a post as Professor and Director of M.B.A. Programs at Brenau University. Gainesville, GA

He was a 32nd degree Free and Accepted Master Mason. Mr. Fox entered the Masonic Order on March 5, 2013, and was a member of the Gainesville Masonic Lodge #219, Free and Accepted Masons, charted under the jurisdiction of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Georgia. Raised to the Prince of the Royal Arch Degree of Royal Arch Masonry, and knighted as a Knight Templar of Pilgrim Commandery Nr. 15, The Order of Knights Templar of York Rite Masonry. As a lifted-up Prince of the Royal Secret Degree, he was a member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, SJ,USA. Mr. Fox was also a member of Yaarab Shrine Temple, Shriners International and First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Jean Fox, sons, William Brooke Fox, IV, Randal David Fox, Richard Charles Fox and daughter, Kathleen Francis Fox, brother, Charles Fox.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 13, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate.  Interment will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
