Helen J. Cowart

Helen J. Cowart, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, February 27, 2023.

Born June 23, 1938 in Ellijay, GA, she has lived in Dawson County for the past 14 years.  A homemaker at her death, she was employed for several years by Simmons Mattress Company.  Helen enjoyed gospel music and was very active at the Dawson County Senior Center.  A member of Crossbridge Community Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Cowart; father, Winston Sosebee; mother, Estie Holiday; sisters, Norma McKinnon, Nancy Sosebee; and brothers, Edward Sosebee and Kenneth Sosebee.

Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Russell and Tracy Cowart, Marlin and Lori Cowart, both of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Danielle and Russ Chambers, Carissa Cowart, Avery Cowart, Gabriel Cowart, Ethan Cowart, Trevor Cowart; great grandchildren, Lilly Chambers, Ellie Chambers, Wyatt Chambers; sister in law, Judy Sosebee, Dalton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Tim Bennett and Rev. John Mason will officiate.  Interment services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville at 3:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2 until 8 at the funeral home.
