Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Johnson Haynie, age 92, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Don Ormsbee and Reverend Robert Puckett will officiate.
Dot was born September 28, 1930 in Jackson County but resided in Gainesville her adult life. She was the daughter of the late Freeman Johnson, Sr. and Lou Ella (Emmett) Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jimmy David Haynie. She was also the youngest sister of her late 11 brothers and sisters.
Dot was a loving wife and mother who had the “Gift” of talking with anyone. She loved people and selling Avon. If she didn’t get you to buy Avon, she would convince you to sell Avon. She was part of a big family who valued family reunions and gathering to support each other. She enjoyed giving to others less fortunate and handed out words of encouragement freely. She was a dedicated member of Chicopee Methodist Church but in later years adopted and loved Don and Elizabeth Ormsbee and the Lakewood Baptist Church Phoenix Assisted Living Ministry.
She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Donise and Yale Moore of Gainesville; her granddaughters, Kelli Spivey (Eason) and Maggie Moore and great-granddaughter, Brinley Eliza Spivey. She loved her granddaughters fiercely and was thrilled with her new great-granddaughter.
Flowers will be accepted but for those who desire, donations may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church 2235 Thompson Bridge Road Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
