Mary Jane Oliver Rowley

Mary Jane Oliver Rowley, age 89, formerly of Greenville, SC and Lula, Ga passed into eternal rest on February 27, 2023. Mary Jane was born on May 3, 1933 in Brookton, Ga to Marjorie Pitchford Oliver and Fletcher Oliver. She was a 1949 graduate of Clermont High School, a 1953 graduate of Georgia State College for Women (Georgia State College and University), and received a Masters and Specialist Degree from Clemson University. She was a proud Home Economics and Vocational Food Service teacher and retired from the Greenville County School system. After retiring, Mary Jane moved back “home” to Clermont, Ga where she enjoyed living near family and life-long friends. Mary Jane was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clermont, Ga where she was baptized and married. Mary Jane enjoyed family, friends, Mossy Creek Campmeeting, basketball, and Clemson football games.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Rowley and sister and brother-in-law, Peggy Oliver Lattanzi and Joe Lattanzi. Surviving are daughter, Cheryl Rowley of Brevard, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Darryl Rowley (Dawn) of Pendleton, SC; granddaughter, Brette Rowley Cox (Jamie) of Washington DC; grandson, Christopher Rowley (Abby) of Boulder, CO; great-granddaughter, Elliott Cox; and brother, Lane Oliver of Brevard, NC. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and neighbors.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 5622 Clarks Bridge Road, Clermont, Georgia with Reverend Jeremy Noffsinger officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 PM until 2 PM at W.R. Strickland Funeral Home in Clermont. Interment will be at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clermont, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Mossy Creek Campground or Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box 100, Clermont, Georgia 30527.
