Mrs. Trudy Turner Nichols, age 88 of Eastanollee passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at her residence.
A daughter of the late Rev. Ben F. Turner, Sr. and Joy Turner, she was born November 26, 1934 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was retired from Coats and Clark with 40 years of service. She was a member of Eastanollee Baptist Church where she had taught the Dorcas Sunday School Class for many years, served as the church pianist for 70 years and was a Deacon’s wife. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nichols in 2020, by a granddaughter, Carrie Suzanne Moore in 2022, by three brothers, Rev. James Turner, Rev. Ben Turner, Jr. and Dwain (Buddy) Turner and by four sisters, Faye Walters, Bertha Pritchett, Edith Addison and Hazel Anderson.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Rev. Bruce Moore of Lavonia, Susan and Rev. Richard Ivester of Eastanollee, Martha and Warren Fisher of Martin and Tressa and Tim Westmoreland of Toccoa; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marlene Nichols of Louisville, Kentucky and Jimmy and Kim Nichols of Toccoa; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Mae Ayers of Thomasville, North Carolina and Jeane Rampy of Liberty, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 24, 2023, 2 o’clock p.m. at the Eastanollee Baptist Church with Mr. Ricky Addison and The Reverend Richard Ivester officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Eric Ivester, Chad Ivester, Christopher Hunt, Daniel Ivester, Justin Law, Brian Moore, and Craig Moore.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday from noon until 1:20 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Eastanollee Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Bruce Moore officiating.
