J.B. Addis, age 99, of Clarkesville, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Born on October 8, 1923, he was a son of the late Arthur James Addis and Frances Lola Allison Addis. Mr. Addis was retired from Ethicon, where he worked as a supply clerk, he was also retired from Habersham County school system where he worked as a bus driver for 10 years, and also had worked in maintenance. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gardening & plowing with a mule. J. B. was a friend to all and could play multiple musical instruments. He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church, Soque Saddle Club and Instrumental in opening Traditions Pick’n Parlor in Wahalla.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son, Tony Vandiver; grandson, Kristopher Addis; brothers, James Addis, Junior Addis and Wilford Addis; sister, Minnie Holcomb.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bynum Addis of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Addis (Cynthia) of Batesville, and Ronnie Addis (Lisa) of Fairview; daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy Day (Steven), Thelma Stamey (John) of Clarkesville, and Kayla Addis of Clarkesville; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; sister, Marcella Freeman of Cornelia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, February 19, 2023 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Don Samples and Rev. Alvin Burdette officiating. Interment will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.
