Raymon J. Prince, loving husband, father, and avid outdoorsman, after an eight-year battle with cancer, passed away in his home on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the age of 66, where he was surrounded by his family. He was born June 7, 1956 in Wyandotte, Michigan.
Ray founded and served as pastor of the Berea Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Georgia for the past twenty-seven years. He served churches in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Georgia prior to Berea. He was a graduate of Luther Rice Seminary with a Master in Counseling, and recently, Master of Divinity degrees.
He was heavily involved in the community as a founding member of Dahlonega Crisis Pregnancy Center. He was also a charter member of the Dahlonega Sunrise Rotary, where he received the Rotarian of the Year award twice. He was also involved in various other civic charities.
He is survived by his wife, Anita, of 43 years, his daughter Ashley (Johnny) Sosebee, his son Andrew (Samantha) Prince, three grandchildren, his brothers John (Julie) Prince and Jeff Prince of Jacksonville, FL, and in-laws Bob and Margaret Todd of Dahlonega. He is also survived by two brother-in-laws, Glenn (Teresa) Davis and Gene Davis, and by various aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Matthew, his parents, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are at Dahlonega Funeral Home, with Pastor Marty Wynn (Columbus GA) and Pastor Sheldon Armstrong (Dahlonega GA) conducting the service. The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, February 16 during the hours of 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M, and 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. On Friday, February 17, viewing will begin at 12:00 P.M., with the service beginning at 2:00 P.M.
