Marie (Murphy) Stover

Mrs. Marie (Murphy) Stover, age 91, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023.

The family will receive friends 1:00 to 3:00 pm Friday, February 17, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel, where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Reverend David Smith will officiate.

Marie was born February 26, 1931 in Mud Creek, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Lance Mckenly Murphy and Beulah (Darnell) Murphy. She was also preceded in death by her husband Andy Cornelius Stover.

Marie was a dedicated dental hygienist for 51 years who made a positive impact on young and old in Hall County.  She loved the children that she mentored in reading at Lanier Elementary.  She enjoyed gardening and was a master cook who fed her people (if you were fortunate to be one) with loving meals and wonderful deserts. She was a dedicated member of Pine Crest Baptist Church family.

She is survived by her loving god-daughter and son in law, Donise and Yale Moore of Gainesville, her granddaughters Kelli Spivey (Eason) and Maggie Moore and great granddaughter Brinley Eliza Spivey. Special friends Nick Martin and Rusty Martin. Her sisters and brother in law; Guynethel Dekle, and Irene (Dennis) Rogers. Nieces Sharon (Tim) Drain, Sheila (Richard) Greene, Denise (Kirk) Williamson. Great nieces and nephews, Justin Herrin (Rachel), Paige Doster (Shane), Noah Williamson (Lauren), Jack Greene, Trey Greene. If there was only one thing that Sharon, Shelia & Denise learned from an early age was that you “never upset your Aunt Marie”!

In lieu of flowers, Marie requested donations be made to Pine Crest Baptist Church, 2520 Mountain View Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30504.
