Born January 30, 1940, Vivian Louise Broughton Lackey was born the third of five children to the late Deacon Earl O. Broughton, Sr. and Maudie Ree Simmons Broughton. She married Frank Lackey in 1962 and to this union, two children were born, Jovon and Rodney (Tony). She was preceded in death by five siblings: James Wilson, Lottie Mae, Earl, Jr., Johnny, and Mary Ann. She attended Walton County Schools and graduated from Carver High School in 1959 where she was crowned the first Miss Carver in 1959. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church, where she faithfully worked in various ministries until her health failed. She will be remembered for her service with the Youth, as an Act Teen Advisor, Senior Mission, and the Macedonia Gospel Choir. She was also a faithful member of the Campton Gospel Choir, which served three local church families in the Campton Community. She was employed with Lithonia Lightning in Conyers, GA, where she retired and was a part of the company’s bowling league. Vivian will be greatly missed by family and friends who will cherish her loving smile and sweet encouragement. Leaving to cherish memories are: Daughter: Jovon (Derek) Peebles; Son: Rev. Rodney (Sonya) Lackey, Sr.; Granddaughter: Shante’ Latimore; Grandsons: Dexter Maxey, Jr.; Rafael Ivey, Rodney Lackey, Jr., Ryan Lackey; Great Grand Children: Trinity Maxey, Ra’Nya Ivey, Raven Cooper, Khylen Ivey; Siblings: Sister – Seretha Lawson; Brothers – Harvey (Maxine) Lawson; Larry (Ruby) Lawson; Sisters-in-law – Annie Kate Lackey; Aunts: Alice Morrow, Betty (Lucious) Skrine, Louise (Johnny) Bell, Margie Wimberly; Loving cousin: Annette Booker; Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. ?
Services for Vivian Lackey will be on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the hour of 12 noon at Macedonia Baptist Church in Monroe Georgia. Internment will be at the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitations will be on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from the hours of 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Wimberly Funeral Home Chapel. An additional visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Macedonia Baptist church Monroe, GA. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
