James Arthur "Jim" Garland

Mr. James Arthur “Jim” Garland, age 77 of Forest Avenue, Toccoa passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at his residence.

A son of the late Cecil and Fannie Lou Miller Garland, he was born June 19, 1945 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.  He was employed with Bibb Manufacturing and later with Adams Container.  He loved classic cars and going to car shows, loved photography, loved his family and children.  He attended The Pointe Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Garland Looney and her husband Herbert and Barbara Hornick and her husband Howard, and by two brothers-in-law, Reeves Harrison and Joe Williams.

Survivors include three brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C. “Diggy” and Angie Garland and Harold and Rita Garland both of Toccoa and Roger Garland and Cathy Cronic of Woodstock, Georgia; sisters, Carol Harrison of Eastanollee and Ruth Williams of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Ruth and Jack Pitts and family.

Memorial services will be Friday, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Roger Whiten officiating.
