Carl Dean “Peanut” Crane

Carl Dean “Peanut” Crane, 92, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 20, 1930 to the late Dock Sr. and Annie Crane, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.  Peanut was cattle and poultry farmer and enjoyed riding his golf cart.  He was a faithful husband, a loving dad, “Pops and Daddy” to his children and Pappa Peanut to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Mr. Crane was a true Southern man who never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.  A Deacon of Mill Creek Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marjorie Crane; sisters, Fanabell Stephens, Mardell Greenway, Marell Bailey, Vera Mae Davis; brothers, Wilburn Crane, Billy Crane, Eugene Crane, Dock Crane, Jr., and Loy “Sonny Man” Crane.

Surviving are his children, Ronnie Crane (Cheryl), Shelia Brooksher (Dennis), Robin Chandler (Tom), Tracy Barrett (Chad), Jason Crane (Maranda) all of Dawsonville; his very loved grandchildren, Trent Crane (Holly), Carrie Rucker (Chuck) of Lumpkin County, Shelley Brooksher, John-Michael Brooksher, Joshua Tatum (Kassi) of Dawson County, Colby Crane (Keri) of Cherokee County, Taylor Barrett (Kelly) of Lumpkin County, Chloe Barrett of Dawson County, Lydia Caine (Mason) of Lumpkin County and Karley Crane of Dawson County; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Monnie Chester, Annette Anderson, Frances Baughcum; two sisters in law and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1 o’clock at Mill Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Jack Pilcher and Rev. Tim Pruitt will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 until 8 at the funeral home.
