Joyce Z Faircloth joined her sons, Greg and Joey, in Heaven on January 30, 2023. Joyce was born to Opal and Joseph Zambroni in Memphis, TN, on December 28, 1937. It was there? that she met and married Al, the love of her life, and they began to raise their two daughters. The birth of two boys soon followed, and in 1984 the family moved to the Atlanta area.
Wherever they lived, Joyce was always active in her Episcopal church community. She was a lifelong member of The Daughters of the King and she lived their vow of prayer and service in whatever church she found herself.
After the children were grown, Joyce went back to school for a degree in accounting. She worked for many years in that field and formed lasting friendships with many of her co-workers. Joyce’s openness, love, and courage endeared her to everyone around her.
Those qualities were never more obvious than when their sons, Gregory Allert and Joseph Raymond, served in Desert Storm. Although they returned safely, she lost them both within weeks of each other in 2018. That would have been a devastating blow to anyone who lacked Joyce’s faith and courage, but she continued to love and serve those around her until she was called to join them.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Raymond Allert Faircloth (Al) of Sugar Hill; daughters Theresa Kazmier (Ron) of Big Canoe; Bethany Gilliam (Tony) of Marcola, OR; and grandchildren Alyssa Gibson (Knox), Alexander Kazmier ( Sonserea), Christopher Kazmier, Brandon Gilliam, Noah Faircloth, Lily Faircloth, and Joshua Faircloth; as well as 2 great grandchildren, Elijah and Grace; and a brother, Richard Lewis.
A memorial celebration of her life was held on Saturday, February 4, at 2:00 pm at St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church, 4346 Ridge Road, Buford, GA.
Interment will be at a later date at The Church of the Holy Family in Jasper, GA.
