James Edward Strickland

Obituary Date: Monday, January 30, 2023

On Monday January 30, James Edward Strickland received his wings. James was a beloved husband and loving father. Born to the late Edward Willie and Mary (Stringer) Strickland. He attended Johnson High school where he loved to play basketball. After much dedication and hard work, he started his own Transportation business in Jacksonville Florida.

James Strickland known for his quick–witted humor and generous spirit was an up standing man that showed unconditional love to his family, friends and all whom he came in contact with him. He is survived by wife Evette Strickland, and father-in-law Charles HD Wright. Daughters: Alexis Hollis and Jessica Wright. Sons: Joshua (Heather) Buffington, Jeremy Wright, and Malik Williams. Brother: Willie (Betty) Strickland. Sisters: Mary (Johnny) Bailey, Patricia (Bill) Hill, Diane (Thomas) Strickland and Sherry Strickland. Sister-in law: Margaret Wright, Joanna Wright, Terica (Chris) Hull. Brother-in-law: Michael (Casey) Wright. Aunts: Eloise Stringer, Shirley and John Dorsey, Linda Burton, Joyce Pruitt; Uncle: Charlie Stringer, Jr. a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Bailey and Rev. Emerson Ross will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
